Do People Like You?

I was interviewing a guy a few weeks ago and closed with this final question, "Would I like you - are you likable?" I then added, "If I asked people around you, would they say you are likable?"

He paused and expressed that he had never been asked the before. I waited for his answer.

Ask yourself a few questions:

  • Do you want people to say that you are likable?
  • Do you really want to work with someone who is not likable?
  • Do you want a friend who is likable?
The idea here is you learn how to be emotionally intelligent. When I say someone is likable, all I mean is they have this consistency in their ability to produce positive experiences for other people, emotionally. I am just saying that people can work on their emotional intelligence. That will result in them being more likable.
