Every year Zappos, widely known for their ability to deliver WOW customer experiences, produces an annual Culture Book. Simply put, they ask one question to their customers, employees, and partners (vendors) to gain perspective through various lenses. I have several year's worth of these books and I am fascinated by how the culture of the company is the driving force behind everything they do, and how it is continuously protected and kept at the forefront of all that they do.
What is the one question they ask?
"What you think of when you hear Zappos?"
They gather the responses and organize them into a creative, attractive and professional book. Their desire this year to have everyone's photos included in the next edition.
I wonder what it would look like if we asked each of our team members and volunteers a similar question. There is an easy-to-use app, Delighted, that Eventbrite uses to ask one question each month. Their question is, "Would you recommend working at Eventbrite to a trusted friend or colleague?" They calculate the internal Net Promoter Score and share the results with the entire company.
