Casting: epirrhipto (ep-ir-hrip’-to): to throw upon, to place upon
1 Peter 5:7 says:
casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
This verse is connecting to the previous verse referring to one way to remain humble.
In this particular verse, casting is in the aorist tense which means an act once for all; throwing the life with its care on Him.
This can literally be seen in Luke 19:35:
They brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it; and He sat on it.
The same word is used when it talks about throwing clothes on an animal for riding. The meaning is that everything was thrown on top of the colt. Why? The colt was to carry and bear it all, including a person (in this situation, Jesus).
God’s back can handle everything you can throw on Him. Your back. My back. Simply cannot. Know today that God wants you to throw it all on Him, including yourself. He can take it. He cares for you. He loves you.
