Will Gen Y Read The Bible Differently?

mobile-mdotLast Friday I watched Erwin McManus speak to 700 people at the Leadership Forum at Southeastern University.

He started to read from the Bible.  However, I did not see a Bible on the table he was using.

I then noticed a Blackberry (I think it was.  Maybe an iPHONE.) in his hand.  He was reading the Bible from an app on his hand-held device.

I must admit, I have done this several times.  (I even did this for an entire sermon once.)  People looked at me weird.  However, I wonder if we will see this increase in the coming years.  Tools like YouVersion makes this possible.

I did a non-scientific poll on Sunday before I started to speak.  I was surprised to see how many read the Bible on their hand-help devices.  This group was completely Gen Y.

Are you okay with this?  Should it matter?

I think one of the best things that has happened to my spiritual walk has been using my iPod Touch. I have multiple translations of the Bible in my pocket. Additionally, I have an app that helps me to memorize Scripture in a much more fun way than simply staring at a notecard.
