Selecting Books To Read…How?

Selecting fiction book 2I love to read.  If you follow this blog at all, you already know that.  I have learned over the years to select certain books.  Our time is limited and we should maximize those moments by selecting content that will help us most.  More specifically, I have learned to pick categorically.  I typically spend most of my time selecting books from one of the following five genres:

  • Biography
  • Leadership
  • Spiritual Formation
  • Generation Y
  • Adoption/Orphans

What genres do you select from and why?

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • email
  • Print
  • MySpace
  • del.icio.us
  • Digg
  • Google Bookmarks
  • LinkedIn

Here are my 5 areas I rotate through:

    1-Adoption/Orphan care
    2-Academic/seminary theological type books
    3-Practical ministry
    4-Secular
5-Wild Card: I use this to pick any type of book I want

I am a seminary student so my focus is heavily weighted toward my usefulness in the church . As soon a I move through these 5 categories, I pick 5 more books that fit into these categories and start over
