Equip Your People

I often hear about how busy schedules are in church work. Do this…do that. Do this…do that.

I often ask myself about the this and the that. Are those the things I should be doing? Even in my own church where I work, we often expend energy and time on things that we have no business doing. I am sometimes personally guilty of this myself.

Here is what I rarely hear people saying they are doing…we are really focused on equipping our people for the effective work of the ministry. We don’t do this and that. This and that.

We do this…equip our people so we can share the ministry. We do this…equip our people so they can find their role and experience fulfillment.

By the way…Ephesians 4:12 reads in multiple versions:
so that his people would learn to serve and his body would grow strong. (CEV)
to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ (ESV)
Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. (NLT)
for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ (NASB)

So, when we will we equip people? Let’s stop just doing this and that. Let’s do this: EQUIP. This has become a chief priority for me.
