It’s all in the details. Have you heard that before?
I am reminded that one (significant) contributing element to Disney World’s success is there obsession with paying fantastic attention to detail. Did you know they strip and repaint the high wear points on the horse-head hitching posts every night? Attention to detail permeates everything!
Steve Jobs, Apple Founder, is obsessed with details. Ron Johnson, veteran retail expert helped Jobs launch the Apple stores. When planning the stores presentation, they wanted products to glow. So, during one meeting the group exhaustively evaluated three types of lighting just to make sure multicolored iMacs would shine as they do in glossy print ads. Johnson commented in Business 2.0 magazine, “Every little element in the store is designed to these very details.”
How effective are we at giving the details attention? If we knew our user experience (church attendees) would improve if we paid fantastic attention to detail, how quickly would we address those areas we already know need attention?
