A man was sleeping behind our church on Tuesday night and remained there until Wednesday morning. If you are unfamiliar with the temperature that night, it was like 15 degrees. Cold to say the least. This man was invited into our building for the day, provided 3 meals, a shower (at Mike’s house), new clothes (he got to pick out), and watched some encouraging dvd’s from Authentic Manhood. A place for him to stay more permanently was found that night. He has a sad story and wants to be better. He actually used to come to the church.
I would like to say I was the one who spearheaded everything that demonstrated Jesus to this man. My friend and our Worship Pastor, Mike, was the lead out on this. Mike has a busy schedule. However, Mike reminded me of a powerful lesson…ministry is about people. Mike was Jesus to that man. Mike made me want to be more like Jesus. He modeled servanthood.
