Timing

Have you ever been so passionate about an idea that you were ready to do it NOW? Maybe you even did it and it worked. Maybe you did it and it did not work. Maybe you did not do it and never got back to it. Maybe you did not do it because you were not sure when the timing was right.

You know as well as I do that timing is crucial. In fact, regardless of your grand idea timing can crush any hopes to that idea. However, if timed correctly, your grand idea goes to the next level and so does your influence.

John Maxwell shares the following when determining if it’s the right time: Consider the needs around you. Consider the opportunities before you. Consider the influencers behind you. Consider the successes under you. Consider the courage within you.

So, think about where you are. Think about your idea and passion. Ask yourself this question, “If I do (insert your idea) at this moment will the influence exerted be optimum?”

If the timing is not right, consider incubating your influence.

To be personal, I find myself at this very spot. I have two deep passions I want to pursue and implement um…yesterday. However, through great counsel (thank Ben Arment), I am choosing to find the speed limit for me right now and incubate influence. This does not mean you stop doing things; however, this means you re-strategize how to get there and when you should arrive. The speed limit at which God wants us to travel is different. I want to travel accordingly.

evan-thanks bro for sharing your thoughts. keep that idea box growing, but do not forget to pull out some of those ideas after the incubation period. sometimes, if you are like me, i can overcook my ideas and miss the opportunity. simultaneously, i sometimes finding myself doing the opposite…bringing them out rare and not cooked enough. the timing can be tricky but it is possible as long as we are sensitive to God’s timing. let me know when you execute some of those ideas. i would love to hear your stories.

This is exactly what I needed to read tonight. Thank you. Thank you. I have an idea box, where my good … but untimely… ideas go to ‘incubate’….
